Warning: ganbar.us might be slow!
This site and all of its subdomains (e.g. <anything>.ganbar.us) is hosted on a server in my house, using my home connection, which (at the moment) is a cable modem asymmetric connection, with ~600Mbps down and ~20Mbps upload, which means that at most you’ll be able to download things from here at 2 megabytes / second, which means it will take 8 minutes to download a 1GB file. I generally upload full-resolution photos and videos, so 1 GB is around 3 minutes, so it will take longer to download than to watch — meaning that streaming will likely be choppy.
Hopefully there will be a magical future time when a symmetric fiber connection is available in Somerville (apparently Verizon FiOS is available for some people only 1km away from me 😭), but for now this is what I’ve got.
Advice for Downloading from NextCloud Link to heading
If I’ve sent you an album from NextCloud and you want to view more than a few photos (particularly if you want to save them), I recommend selecting the ones you want (or the whole album) and downloading as a zip file, then browsing the photos on your computer or phone. That way, you can do other stuff while the downloading all happens at one time, and your viewing experience is more seamless.
